The Bauchi Elephants secured their fourth win of the season against the Pride of Rivers and their captain is pleased with the result
Wikki Tourist’s Mustapha Ibrahim says Monday’s 1-0 win against Lobi Stars means a lot to their Nigeria Professional League campaign this season.
Abubakar Umar’s 82nd-minute strike inspired the Bauchi Elephants to their fourth win of the season as they defeated Solomon Ogbeide’s men at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
And the captain credits the victory to his mate’s teamwork and determination as he believes it will boost their bid to challenge for the top-four places.
“It was a great win for us and meant a lot too. Lobi Stars were really difficult to beat and they gave us a tough match,” Ibrahim told Goal.
“Playing a big team like Lobi was definitely going to be tough but we were determined and work hard to win. We needed the result to close the gap with the top four teams.

“Lobi are up there and from the performance – they really came with the plan to win or at least get a point. We know defeating them will really help us begin to catch up with those top teams.
“We defended well as a team and fought hard for the victory and we deserved it. It was not easy getting that goal. Anyways, I’m happy we ended the match victoriously.
“I must appreciate my teammates for the great team spirit they put up and their resilience too. We must keep up that tempo and fight for more points in our next game.”
