The French-born coach joins Al Ahly despite reported interest in him from Amakhosi
Kaizer Chiefs have missed out on reported coaching target Patrice Carteron as he has completed a move to the Egyptian Premier League.
Amakhosi have been on the lookout for a new head coach ever since they parted ways with Steve Komphela following a Nedbank Cup semi-final defeat. Names such as Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael, former Chelsea boss Avram Grant and Frenchman Patrice Carteron have all been bandied about for the highly coveted job.
However, with Chiefs having suggested that they are in the process of narrowing down their list of candidates, they have now missed out on one of their targets. While Carteron may have been on the books of United Soccer League outfit Phoenix Rising where he had players such as Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba at his disposal, he was heavily linked with the vacant post.
On Monday evening, Egypt’s KingFut, reported that the former TP Mazembe was set to join Al Ahly, and that the 47-year-old has already penned a deal with the Egyptian giants.
The club though have since taken to Twitter on to confirm their latest appointment.
Nonetheless, this could potentially leave Chiefs with a slight headache as they attempt to appoint a new coach to the helm before the start of pre-season.
Meanwhile, this is the latest blow to come the way of Chiefs as they already find themselves in a precarious situation with news reports on the weekend suggesting that they may lose out on reported No.1 target Grant who is said to have attracted interest from Greek giants Panathinaikos.

It now remains to be seen who the Glamour Boys will bring in, or when an announcement is likely to be made. While other clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando have already begun bolstering their squad ahead of the new season, Chiefs have been relatively quiet.
