The Glamour Boys have not won a major trophy since winning the league in 2015, and they promised to overhaul the squad at the end of last season
Kaizer Chiefs have announced that they have parted ways with three of their midfielders in Edmore Chirambadare, Keagan Buchanan and William Twala as well as defenders Sibusiso Khumalo and Tsepo Masilela.
The five players saw little game time under coach Steve Komphela last season, with Twala susbsequently loaned out to Maritzburg United for the second half of the campaign.
Chirambadare, Khumalo, Buchanan and Masilela all remained with the club, with the latter featuring soon after his recovery from a long-term injury in the latter stages of the season.
Amakhosi were expected to get rid of some of the players who contributed little to the team over the past few years, and while they said there will not make too many changes to the playing personnel, the departure of the five players doesn’t come as a major surprise.
Masilela, who had been with the club since 2012 following his return from Europe, came to the end of his contract with Chiefs, and the club decided against renewing it.
He leaves as one of the most decorated players in the current Chiefs over the past six years having won two league titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8 trophies in his first three seasons with the Glamour Boys.

Chirambadare and Buchanan however, failed to live up the expectations as they struggled to cemented their places in the team since their arrival in 2016.
