The United first-team squad reported for practice on Wednesday, with those not involved in the World Cup due to fly to the USA on Sunday
Anthony Martial and Daley Blind were among the Manchester United players to return for first-team training on Wednesday amid continued questions over their futures.
Martial has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford having failed to nail down a regular starting place in two seasons under Jose Mourinho, with Barcelona the latest club said to hold an interest in the former Monaco star.
The 22-year-old has found football increasingly hard to come by since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, another player who was among the roll call on Wednesday as United’s players not involved in World Cup duty began their preparations for the 2018-19 season.
Meanwhile, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he wants to sign Blind, who made just four Premier League starts for United last term, admitting: “Blind is a player with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports. “We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties.”
One of Mourinho’s summer additions, and a potential long-term replacement for Blind, was at Carrington too, with Diogo Dalot reporting for training for the first time following his £19 million move from Porto in June.
Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Antonio Valencia and Joel Pereira were also snapped at United’s Carrington training facility, and they were joined by Andreas Pereira and Timo Fosu-Mensah following the completion of their season-long loan spells at Valencia and Crystal Palace respectively.
United do, of course, have a number of players still on international duty at the World Cup and there are a host of others whose involvement earlier in the competition means they will also join up at a later stage.
Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young are all set to return to the club in the final weeks before their opening Premier League game against Leicester City on August 10 as a result of their countries making it to the final weekend of the World Cup.

United’s tour squad is likely to be supplemented by a host of young players when they head off for their US summer tour on Sunday, with James Garner already confirmed as one of those flying out after his father tweeted of his pride last week.
The returning squad members will fly out to Los Angeles on Sunday, with their first pre-season game coming against Club America in Glendale, Arizona on Thursday, July 19. They will also take on Milan, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as part of their preparations for the new campaign.
