The France international was set to move to Anfield, but saw his summer switch capsize at the last moment despite terms being agreed
Former Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir insists that he has put the disappointment of his failed switch to Anfield behind him.
Earlier in the summer, the French midfielder agreed on personal terms over a move to the Merseyside club, but a deal ultimately failed to materialise.
Fekir was on international duty with France at the World Cup in Russia throughout June and July, as Didier Deschamps’ men lifted the trophy for the second time in their history, beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
The 25-year-old playmaker revealed the great pride he felt having won the most prestigious competition in the game but was also keen to point out he is now fully focused on club duty, as he told reporters: “It’s true that being world champion is very good. But life goes on.
“That’s not why we have to stop working. There is a good season ahead with Lyon and we must prepare quietly”
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad underwent a significant summer of changes, with the likes of Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson all arriving at Anfield ahead of the latest Premier League campaign.
The German boss had still been eager to add one more attacking midfielder to his ranks to complete his spending and Fekir was the ideal candidate, but it seems that both parties have now moved on.
Liverpool have won both of their opening league games in England while Lyon have managed to pick up two wins from their first three matches and Fekir continued by addressing the frustrating pre-season transfer saga.
He added: “Yes, the missed transfer to Liverpool is totally digested. These are things that happen. It’s like that. We must advance. It’s ancient history.
“I heard several things. The real reason is that they (Liverpool) only know it”

The Frenchman finished by revealing his expectations for the year ahead, stating that Lyon will do everthing within their power to challenge PSG.
“Like every season, we want to try to do the maximum in the league. The podium is a goal of the club. After there is the PSG, a great team with great players, we know that it will be complicated.
“My goals are always high. Like at the beginning of the season, I set big goals, but honestly there are no specific goals or anything. I try to help the team to the maximum and play all the competitions thoroughly”
