Burnley will continue their Premier League duties with their first home game of the season against Watford.
Here’s how they could line up at Turf Moor on Sunday.
3. Goalkeepers & Defenders
Joe Hart (GK) – Hart should start all of Burnley’s league games due to the long-term injuries to Nick Pope and Tom Heaton, as long as he avoids his blunders from recent years.
Matt Lowton (RB) – Could be a crucial part of Burnley’s XI on Sunday, up against the Argentine dynamo Roberto Pereyra. Lowton will have to work hard to keep Watford’s talisman quiet.
James Tarkowski (CB) – After producing a man of the match performance against Southampton in their opening game, he is one of the first names on the team sheet.
Ben Mee (CB) – Had a solid partnership alongside Tarkowski last season and the Clarets will be hoping for more of the same.
Stephen Ward (LB) – After playing 120 minutes against Istanbul, Ward could be rested but is predicted to play ahead of Phil Bardsley.
Aaron Lennon (RM) – Renowned for his flair and pace, the former England international can always bring a lot to the table when playing regularly.
Jack Cork (CM) – Scored the winner against Istanbul Basaksehir and will be full of confidence going into this one.
Ashley Westwood (CM) – Formed a solid partnership with Cork last season and is expected to start once again.
Johann Berg Gudmondsson (LM) – The Icelandic midfielder has gelled into Sean Dyche’s set-up and will continue to do so with regular game time.
Jeff Hendrick (AM) – The main support for striker Chris Wood, Hendrick will hope his side can get off to a winning start in front of the Turf Moor faithful.
Chris Wood (ST) – A big game for the former Leeds United man as he looks to put his stamp on the side’s lack of goals last season. It’s a great opportunity for the 26-year-old New Zealand international to get off to the best possible start in front of his home fans.
