Inter Miami have revealed that their new home jersey for the 2022 season will be pink.
Since entering Major League Soccer in 2020, the Herons have donned a white primary jersey with pink detail, while their secondary kit is black and pink.
But supporters have been consistently calling for a pink home strip that better reflects the wider identity of the club and fits the color schemes on their badge and in their DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, South Florida.
“The 2022 Inter Miami primary jersey will be pink,” Inter Miami CF senior vice president of brand and marketing, Mike Ridley, said in a statement. “We heard our fans, the heartbeat of this club, and we are excited to confirm, we will take the pitch in pink in the new year.”
The club have put up two digital billboards in south Florida sharing the news and teasing the new jersey; one in downtown Brickell and another by the iconic Hard Rock Guitar Hotel and Casino.
Fans can be among the first to get their hands on the new pink 2022 jersey by downloading the Inter Miami CF app for a chance to win one signed by the team.
On the pitch, head coach Phil Neville is hard at work building a roster that will challenge for MLS Cup Playoff qualification in 2022 after missing out on the post-season this time around.
Inter Miami were recently linked to Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez, though the status of the club’s three existing Designated Players (DP) remains unclear.
Mexican playmaker Rodolfo Pizarro has been linked with a return to Liga MX, while French midfielder Blaise Matuidi was left unprotected in the recent MLS Expansion Draft. Gonzalo Higuain’s current contract runs through December 2022.
