Supreme Court removes Praful Patel & committee from AIFF; appoints COA on interim basis

The Supreme Court have removed the current All India Football Federation (AIFF) president, Praful Patel and his committee from managing the national body and have appointed a three- member Committee of Administrators (CoA) headed by former top court judge AR Dave to manage the organisation’s affairs.

A bench of Justices have confirmed that besides retired Justice Dave, the COA will comprise of Dr SY Qureshi, former Chief Election Commissioner and Bhaskar Ganguly, former captain of the Indian National Football Team.

The court has directed the COA to prepare electoral rolls for the purpose of conducting elections to the executive committee of AIFF as per the constitution to be submitted by the two-member committee (ombudsman) of Qureshi and Ganguly.

“The committee of administrators shall carry out day-to-day governance of the All India Football Federation,” the bench said, adding that the COA will convene at the Football House at Dwarka or any other place of convenience for their day-to-day tasks.
