– CARLO OLIVIER SHOWS PROMISING PACE

Round four of the MSA Northern Regions Karting Championship took place at the Formula K Circuit in Benoni last weekend (18 June 2022) and Carlo Olivier showed promising pace.

The weekend started with a strong qualifying performance and Carlo put his RS Kart onto third on the grid.

Carlo didn’t have his usual blistering launch off the start for race one and this cost him a position. He put in a hard charge, not relinquishing for one moment during the 12 lap race, but just wasn’t able to make a pass stick. Carlo crossed the finish line in fourth place.

It was another third place grid position for Carlo in heat two and he left nothing to chance this time around, as he rocketed into second place off the start. Carlo held this position for more than half the race, before dropping to third. He ended the heat on the podium.

Unfortunately, the final heat didn’t go quite as planned. After starting third, Carlo lost two positions on the first lap and had a lot of work to do to get back onto the podium. He got up to fourth position before his engine seized and put a premature end to what had been a good day.

“It is unfortunate that the engine went, but I am happy with the direction we took this weekend. The changes we made resulted in some good lap times that were improving with every session. I truly feel like we have turned a corner and found our rhythm again,” commented Carlo.

Carlo is currently fourth in the 2022 championship standings with three rounds to go.
