Ivory Coast president, Alassane Outtara has rewarded the players and technical team of the Elephants team for winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
After struggling in the group phase of the tournament, Ivory Coast miraculously shocked the continent by winning the 34th edition of the AFCON.
In the final of the tournament, the Elephants faced Nigeria, who were hoping to win the fourth title.
After taking the lead in the first half with William Troost-Ekong, the Ivorians after recess scored two goals in the second half to secure their third title with Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller scoring the goals.
Addressing the players at a gathering, Emerse Fae, who was named as the interim coach and steered the team to glory has been awarded €150,000.
The entire technical team has also been given €600,000 while each player has been awarded €76,000.
Meanwhile, the Elephants pick up $7m (£5.54m) in prize money, with Nigeria handed $4m by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
