Baba Yara Sports Stadium closed ahead of Ghana vs Central African Republic showdown

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been temporarily closed and is unavailable for domestic football ahead of Ghana’s game against the Central African Republic.

The Black Stars will take on their counterpart from Central African Republic next month in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ahead of the game, the Ghana FA has today announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which will host the World Cup qualifier has been closed.

This is to allow the managers of the pitch to improve the condition of the pitch before the crucial game.

“The Baba Yara Sports stadium pitch will not be available for domestic competitions until after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic.

“The decision is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve its quality ahead of the qualifier, scheduled for Monday, June 10,” the Ghana FA said in a statement on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars of Ghana will begin camping in Accra on Thursday, May 30, to start preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Mali and Central African Republic.
