2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Ghana sit top of Group I after hard-fought win over Central African Republic

The Black Stars of Ghana have moved to the top spot in Group I following their impressive 4-3 win over Central African Republic.

Ghana hosted the Wild Beast in the Matchday four games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Monday, June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Having gone ahead through Jordan Ayew from a spot kick, Louis Mofouta scored a brace to end the first half 2-1.

However, after recess, Otto Addo’s men bounced back and equalized through Jordan Ayew before Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s shot was deflected into the net.

Jordan Ayew completed his hattrick in a scrappy manner but Mofouta also grabbed a hat trick with a brilliant free-kick but the Black Stars secured the all-important three points.

Having secured wins against Mali and Central African Republic respectively, Ghana now occupy the top spot in Group I with 9 points after four games.
