It was not fair Mali fans booed their players – Ghana coach Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach has come to the defense of the Mali players after the fans booed them off the pitch following their 2-1 loss Ghana on Thursday night.

Ghana came from behind to claim all the vital three points in Bamako and move second in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Mali were favourites in the game but the Black Stars played above themselves to win the game at a very hostile and hot 26th March Stadium.

Otto Addo at his post-match press conference said the 42 degrees temperature that forced them to go on cooling break for at least two times was not favourable to his team.

“Mali have a good team. I don’t think it’s fair for the fans to boo the team. This was an even game, to be honest. Our substitutions won the game,” Otto Addo said.

Ghana will now host the Central African Republic on Monday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their fourth match of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana sits second in Group I with six points after three games.
