2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers: Iddrisu Baba snubbed again for Madagascar clash

Real Mallorca midfielder Iddrisu Baba Mohamed has once again been snubbed by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton for the Madagascar clash in round five of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.

The 27-year-old missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with the senior national team and was also left out of the squad that faced Angola in the March round three and four games.

He missed the World Cup due to an injury but was left out of the March qualifiers at Chris Hughton’s discretion.

Iddrisu Baba has played in 28 La Liga games for Real Mallorca in the 2022/23 season without registering a goal or assist.

Chris Hughton announced a 24-man squad for the game against Madagascar, where a win could seal Ghana’s qualification for next year’s AFCON to be held in Ivory Coast.

The game will be played on June 18, 2023, at the Kianja Barea Mahamasina in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
