During the highly anticipated clash between Hearts of Oak and reigning league champions Medeama, Hearts’ coach Martin Koopman made a tactical substitution that raised eyebrows across the Accra Sports Stadium.
Koopman revealed post-match that the decision to replace Hamza Issah, who had netted two crucial goals against the formidable Medeama, was prompted by a sudden bout of stomach upset.
This unexpected move, however, didn’t hinder Hearts of Oak’s performance, as they went on to secure a resounding 3-1 victory
“At home yes the last game before this game was also ok but sometimes it was a football show they like to play football and they must wait a long time but now they see if you have patience and we did it on training session to comeback into the game,” Koopman said after the game.
“It ask a lot from the fans I know but know you see what can happen in a few weeks. It was a pity Hamza was sick in halftime he had a problem with his stomach everytime he had to go to the toilet I ask guys where is Hamza again on the toilet I must change him.
“But you see the qualities of Hamza he has something from Romario low on the ground turn very fast I like him very much it was a pity he was changed but all the other ones did well,”
