Ghanaian defender Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu shines in Fleetwood Town’s loss to Peterborough United

English-born Ghanaian defender Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu showcased his talent by securing an assist in Fleetwood Town’s 4-1 loss to Peterborough United in a League One encounter.

The teams’ previous head-to-head record stood at 8 wins for Peterborough United, 7 wins for Fleetwood Town, and 2 draws.

The match, held at the Weston Homes Stadium, saw Sarpong-Wiredu start and play the entire game. In the very first minute, he provided an excellent assist to Bosun Lawal, who scored a right-footed goal from outside the box, putting Fleetwood Town in the lead.

Unfortunately for Sarpong-Wiredu and his team, Peterborough United managed to equalize in the 17th minute through Malik Mothersille’s left-footed shot from close range.

The second half proved to be a challenge for Fleetwood Town, with Peterborough United scoring three more goals. Archie Collins scored in the 81st minute, followed by a brace from Jonson Clarke-Harris in the 90+5 and 90+6 minutes.
