CAF Confederation Cup: Some activities distracted Dreams FC in the eve of the Zamalek game – Ameenu Shardow

Dreams FC’s General Manager, Ameenu Shardow, has revealed that the team faced numerous distractions leading up to their semi-final defeat against Zamalek.

During an appearance on CITI TV, Shardow acknowledged the excitement surrounding Dreams FC’s success but noted that these distractions affected the players’ mental preparation.

He highlighted positive distractions such as increased attention and support from fans and well-wishers but stressed that some corporate entities failed to adequately support the team, particularly regarding sponsorship.

Shardow expressed regret over the lack of proper structuring to manage these distractions and lamented the unkempt state of the stadium a day before the crucial match against Zamalek.

“Everyone wanted to get involved with our success story. People wanted to visit us, want to do some donations and so on.

“Everyone was excited, it is positive. Ghanaians were overjoyed about the prospect of we reaching the final of the CAF Confed Cup.

“With hindsight, from the Management point of view, we could have structured well so it doesn’t take a toll on the players.

“Another problem is that, some authorities and corporate entities did not support us really well especially at the crucial point.

“A day before the game, the Stadium was left unkempt and that does not help the team.”
