Ghanaian midfielder Alfred Duncan helps Fiorentina reach Europa Conference League final

Fiorentina midfielder Alfred Duncan played a role in his team’s progression to the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday afternoon.

The final, which will be held in Athens, will see Fiorentina face off against either Aston Villa or Olympiacos.

Fiorentina secured their spot in the final with a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge, which gave them a 4-3 aggregate victory. Duncan was brought on in the 70th minute to replace Arthur, and he helped his team see out the rest of the match.

His fellow Ghanaian defender, Denis Odoi, started the game for Club Brugge but was substituted in the 86th minute. Odoi was shown a yellow card in the 72nd minute, and he received a second yellow card while he was on the bench in the 90+4 minute.

The opening goal of the game came in the 20th minute, when Igor Thiago delivered a pinpoint ball in for Hans Vanaken to turn it home. Fiorentina then leveled the score in the 85th minute, thanks to a goal from Lucas Beltran.

Duncan has made five appearances in the Europa Conference League this season, and he will be hoping to help his team lift the trophy in Athens.
